Sometimes what we need the most seems like the most elusive thing in the world.
We know that what we want can’t really come from other people, but we can’t help ourselves. We keep looking for it there.
Perhaps for brief moments we feel it…
… when someone is truly seeing us or in a moment of quiet reflection with the Divine or a sacred messenger.
We feel it and we know it is real.
And then we wonder, “How do I get more of this?”
This ineffable quality is grace.
Receiving Grace
It’s that moment when something truly profound has happened, and though you can’t quite put your finger on it, you know a magical moment has transpired.
You feel better physically and emotionally. You feel clear, alive, and you are ready to scale mountains.
However, many of us attempt to chase this down. But in reality, it can’t be experienced when it is sought after.
Grace tends to be short lived until we learn how to recognize it in the quiet moments of relationships when we are still and receptive to love.
As our receptive nature opens, grace is right there.
We might feel it in direct relationship with the Divine, or with an angelic messenger. We might feel it as we hold our grandchild in our arms, or in the glance of someone we love. It might come through the hands and heart of a healer, in the sight of our favorite flower or a smile from a stranger.
Because grace brings us healing on every level and energizes us for what we are about to experience next, it opens our hearts to life’s true potential.
A Moment of Healing Grace
Many years ago, I went to a healer for some help. At the time I was feeling more detached from life than I wanted to be.
The healer did hands-on energy work and asked me to lie down on the table. Slowly, gently she placed her hands on me.
At some point, I drifted away from earthly concerns. I was in the womb, rocking quietly and gently. It was so peaceful, I could have stayed there for a lifetime.
This healer’s ability to create sacred space helped me experience a profound moment of healing grace, in which once again I felt connected to life.
Grace Is Everywhere
Isn’t it wonderful that healers can help us open to the grace that is all around us and within us?
Grace comes through our relationships and the opportunity for deeper relationships is everywhere.
Even Mother Earth can take us into the experience of grace.
At one time, I used to live in a humble travel trailer, parked under a sweet tree in a friend’s yard. The tree had four branches, and under one of them, I parked my trailer. I loved that little tree, blessed its lifeforce, and regularly admired it with a smile as I left and entered my little home.
One winter there was particularly harsh. We were experiencing an ice storm. Throughout the night you could hear some of the tall fir trees topping as the tips of them, filled with ice, cracked and toppled.
After one particularly cold night, I got up and dressed to escape into my friend’s warm and spacious house. I nearly cried when I got outside and saw the state of my little tree. Three of the four branches had split to the ground, all but the one directly over my trailer.
Somehow, my sweet tree had reserved enough strength to protect me.
I love sharing this story. It is one of many stories I have about nature conspiring to protect, bless, heal and take care of me.
We don’t have to search for grace. All that is required is that we tend to each and every relationship in our path with our own love and blessings for life—our own grace.
Developing grace requires dedicated attention. If you want to consciously develop the magic of healing grace in your relationships, my SHE: Doorway to the Divine video course was created to help you do that.
The great mysteries of healing are revealed through our relationships.

Misa,
Thank you for sharing that story. I thought I was nuts because when I was growing up in a farm surrounded by trees I treated them like humans and felt I had a relationship with them. I lived secluded and my trees gave me comfort. I played teacher, nurse and acting with them. Also jump rope. So I can understand what you are saying.

Nilda, how wonderful that you were relating the beautiful spirits of the trees at such a young age! Lucky Trees!
