During one of the most stressful times in my life, I intuitively picked a book about a man who discovered the benefits of Jain meditation practice. I was moved by what I read. I was wired tight and I knew if I could teach myself to meditate, I could enjoy the serenity and peace the author described.
So one morning, I got up early, sat cross-legged on my living room floor and nearly went crazy for five minutes. It was months before I was able to sit still for just twenty minutes, but I got there—then an hour, then hours, and then a day. Whenever I’m starting to wind up, with just few minutes of silent meditation I can quiet my itchy mind and calm my tensing body.
A relaxed mind and body is an environment for good health. As the stresses of your thoughts diminish, you create opportunity for you body to relax. Bodies don’t heal well when they are tense. They need to be relaxed and at peace. As your mind relaxes and opens to its self-healing potential, and so does your body.
In my work at the New Dream Foundation, I call this discovering your Sacred Feminine nature. The energetic qualities of the Sacred Feminine are actually the same restful qualities necessary for healing. This isn’t about goddess worship. It’s about the yin energy that brings us into balance with our Divine Masculine or yang energies, such as action, achievement, and expressing our potential.
The healing qualities of the Sacred Feminine include:
—Stillness
—Compassion
—Receptivity
—Intuition
—Restful Darkness
—Holding All Potential
Meditation is one way that we access all of these energetic qualities that ultimately create an internal environment conducive to self-healing.
If this makes sense to you and you would like to experience greater peace and tranquility, you might want to get to know the various free offerings of guided meditations and classes at New Dream Foundation
You deserve to be well. And you deserve to take the time and rest required to actually allow healing to happen. You don’t make yourself well. You intend it and then allow it to happen. Meditation is one of the best ways to create an environment that allows healing to occur.

Misa, I used to meditate regularly in my twenties, but got out of it. Now, using your Deep Peace meditation, I'm REALLY getting relaxed again. Thanks so much for this site and your marvelous gifts to humanity.
