Misa’s healing miracle

You know by now Misa’s love for sound healing, but have you heard her story about my first significant experience with sound healing? In 1994, she received a call from her brother telling her that her mother was in the hospital and not expected to live through the week. She had not spoken to her mother in two years because Misa had chosen to take some time away from her parents in order to do some deep emotional healing around their relationship.

Misa sensed that her mother needed some closure before she crossed over, so Misa made the decision to go to her quickly. From the perspective of some, Misa was the prodigal daughter returning home. From her perspective, she had finally completed enough of her own personal healing to be able to hold space for the pain her mother had been in most of her life.

When Misa walked into her mother’s room and reached for her hand, Misa could see the longing for forgiveness in her mother’s eyes. Together, they exchanged words of love and understanding that healed years of emotional suffering between them. Eventually, her mother grew quiet as the morphine she had been given began to take effect. Without even thinking, Misa started humming to her, the same way she hummed my brothers and sister to sleep when she was only a child. A beautiful Native American chant, unknown to her until that moment, emerged effortlessly from her heart, and as her mother listened, her mother wept.

The doctors didn’t know what was wrong with Misa’s mother. She was too weak for exploratory surgery, so they had put her on a penicillin drip for any possible infection. After singing her song, without any warning, Misa discovered the source of her mother’s pain. She could see inside her body where there was an infection in the bronchial tubes. Silently asking her mother’s spirit what she needed, Misa then saw a beautiful, emerald green light fill her mother’s chest and bronchial tubes until finally all became a brilliant white and then the light disappeared.

Only a few hours later, her mother was sitting up in bed, laughing with her family. She was held for observation for one day and then released to go home. She spent another three months with the family before she finally made her journey to the other side.

Misa’s mother left her with a precious gift. She had allowed Misa to experience the gentle and miraculous power of healing sound. Shortly after her mother crossed over, a Native American medicine woman found her and invited Misa to study with her so that she could learn how to use her “medicine,” as she called it. Later, still other teachers from traditions around the world found Misa and with each of them she learned something more about how to be present to the medicine and power of sound.

Misa will tell you humbly that she has been deeply blessed, and it is her honor and privilege to share her medicine with others.
